Indigo Montoya Character Development

Daughter of the renowned Shimmersmith, Hikaru Montoya, Indigo lost her mother before she had learned to walk. Raised by her father, she began studying the art of the Shimmerblade and the secret art of forging these swords. When Hikaru was commissioned by a duke from a neighboring system, he was murdered in an attempt to make sure it was the last blade he would ever make. Indigo was only eleven, and she took up her father's sword to avenge him, only to lose her right arm in the process... Left for dead by the baron, she escaped the system to grow up as a sword-for-hire, training for the day she would exact her revenge.
Indigo Montoya is the main character in a sci-fi/fantasy version of Princess Bride that I have been working on and off with over the past couple of years.
